Welcome to my new site.
As you can probably tell, I threw this site on the web to talk about coin collecting, and my adventures around numismatics. (Official name for coin collecting)

The idea with this is that I am a beginner. My dad always collected pocket coins. In other words, the circulated coins that any of us can find. We always got the foldout books where you looked for every year and mint mark in a series. An example would be Roosevelt Dimes 1964-1995. It was 1995 simply because that's the date we got the book.
Collecting like that was a blast, and it was fun to always be looking through your pocket change for neat coins, and try and fit them into the collection.

Well, as I always do, I started looking at coins again, and I'm looking at taking it to the next level. First though I need to figure out what that level is. What sparked my interest again is the new Washington dollar with the smooth edge. I bought one off of Ebay that was NGC slabbed, and it was exciting to get new coins again.
After doing some research I found out that if you try and just grab everything that looks neat, not only are you doing yourself a disservice by spreading your collection too thin, you are also looking at huge variations, and not really being able to study and understand a certain set.
I am thinking that Mercury Dimes are the way to go for my first set.
Now I just have to start researching to find out what I've gotten myself into.
Stay Tuned....
